The article: Bir Cevirmen Adayinin Sahip Olmasi Gereken Nitelikler
In this article, I have learnt several things about translation. Significance of translator and translation, the process of translation and being aware of well qualified translators are some basic issues in this article. In my opinion, the first aim of this article is being aware of qualified translator. In the beginning of the article, I thought how I can describe a translator. In my opinion, the translator is a kind of bridge among cultures. Their roles are very important so that they should be well-qualified. In the article, there is a part about whether the translators in Turkey are well-qualified or not. Some people think that being a translator is a good job to save money. Before I read this article, I thought like that but now I changed my ideas. In the article, the writer states; “a book costs 10 tl. 2tl for distributer, 2tl for bookstore, 1tl for telif alimi, 2tl for printing press etc., 80kurus for taxes and 50-75 kurus for a translator.” I think that it is bewildering. It is obvious that this is a long process especially translating a book. Using the correct word in the sentence is hard because we are not native and some sentences or words do not make sense. The translator should know foreign language as his/her native language and the translator should be aware of the importance of culture, art and love of books.
